Personality:
At first glance, Yuyuka's a typically uncomplicated girl; shy, sweet, modest, and patient, she seems like the perfect schoolgirl, the idol of her class. She's pretty and popular — always has been — and she doesn't associate herself with nasty rumors and gossip the way other popular girls seem to do. And to top it all off, she's smart, too — just look at her test scores. Yuyuka Nekota is the golden girl, a heroine out of a romance novel.

The problem is, Yuyuka's not the heroine — in fact, she's more like a villain, and even plays the part for the first ten chapters of her canon or so. Her sugar-sweet exterior is, naturally, just a facade. In reality, she's dishonest and two-faced; every bit as short-tempered and crass as a member of the yakuza, she has no problem labeling most of her adoring fans "pigs," and has even fewer issues calling someone out on their bullshit if she sees it. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned — a jealous Yuyuka attempts to bully the transfer student, Suzume, going so far as to lie to her and ostracize her from the class's outings.

Still, Yuyuka's more complex than that — she's far from being the stereotypical "shoujo bitch" character. She winds up in a warm friendship with Suzume, whom she initially despised; she's not afraid to face her hypocrisy, either, immediately embracing her image as a "devilish cutie" once the truth comes out that she's not as sweet as she seems.

Yuyuka's dishonest, but at least she's honest about her dishonesty.

The sort of girl who greets a compliment with "Excuse me? I'm always cute," Yuyuka is confident and self-assured if not egotistical. All her deception aside, she makes for a loyal (if slightly intimidating) friend — and better an ally than an enemy. She's prideful and arrogant, sure, but she has reason to be — she's worked hard to get where she is, and her perfectionism comes with its share of uncertainties.

Once again, Yuyuka has always been pretty and popular, but this has given her few friends and a tendency towards distrust. Before meeting Suzume, she sees her classmates as mere pawns in her game; even after meeting Suzume, she typically does not open up to her friends about her concerns, preferring instead to deal with her problems on her own. Part of it is pride. Part of it is that she thinks she's strong enough to handle it on her own. But her penchant for bottling her feelings up is not good for her by any means, and sometimes — sometimes Yuyuka feels vulnerable.

Whatever the case, Yuyuka is your typical haughty teenage girl: not at all about to let anyone take her down a peg.

Abilities: Yuyuka is amazingly proficient with cosmetics and can make just about anyone look good; she's also considered one of the top fifteen students in her class. Beyond that, she has no special powers.

First Person:
Okay, but look, you can't just tell me to braid your hair and expect me to figure out what you want. What is it? A loose braid? Side braid? French braid? Fishtail braid? [obviously irritated, adjusting her own immaculate bangs in front of a compact mirror] I'm doing your makeup too, by the way. What? I don't do anything half-assed, you know that. I'm not letting you get away with just your hair done — anyone who comes to me for help is going to get it, whether they want it or not.

[closes the compact, looking over the other student appraisingly] Hm. I think you'd look good with a waterfall braid, actually. You want to give it a shot?

Third Person:
She doesn't care very much for her family. She's not ungrateful, not exactly, but there are things about them she can do without — like how dorky and clingy her parents get, and the fact that Ririko is always stealing her shit (who shares foundation with their sister anyway? isn't that totally unhygienic?). Yuyuka doesn't mind living on her own, not like some people. She's been longing for the independence; she can live without her father's snoring and her mother's too-loud humming over the stove.

But she's a teenage girl, and sentimentality is her birthright. There are things she misses. She keeps waking up expecting Ririko to be stomping down the stairs, or her mother to be making breakfast. But this is Holly Heights; Yuyuka's not at home, even if she tries to act like it is, so she wakes up every morning anticipating something and opens her eyes to find her room cold and foreign.

This is to say nothing of the days she goes to school expecting to see Suzume.

Still, she's stronger than this. The solitude is worth the independence. If loneliness is all she has to cope with, Yuyuka would trade her life a thousand times over. It's just — it's just that she needs people to talk to, sometimes.

Rolling over, she grabs her phone and squints at the screen, still half-asleep but eager to ask the question weighing on her mind.

"Hey, has anyone ever had their parents come to this place?"
